Colonel Bacha Hunde is one of the best Ethiopian Air Force pilots who fought in the Ogaden war in 1977 when Somalia invades Ethiopia. He was noted for his bravery and awarded a national medal along with his compatriots like B/General Legesse Tefera, B/General Ashenafi Gebre Tsadik, Colonel Bezabih Petros, and others.
Colonel Bacha was very young when he joined Ethiopian Air Force as a technician and later entered the pilot school where he becomes a qualified fighter pilot. In his carrier, he flew T28, F33, F86, F5E & MIG 21 until at last time unjustifiably assigned to fly Cessna aircraft.
Bacha as he was an avid reader and for most of his life a quieter man, also stood for what he believed in and entangled with his commanders which finally became out of hand and pushed him to decide to leave his country discreetly via Sudan and later moved to the USA. He spent his later life as a migrant in California living a quieter life until he died in 2015. He was buried there.
